I have nearly two decades of experience in mining, specializing in strategic investments, operational turnarounds, and value creation. Through ResDev Solutions, I help investors navigate complex mining projects, conduct rigorous valuations, optimize operations, and unlock the full potential of their assets. My career spans technical roles in engineering and mine planning, private equity, mine finance, and hands-on operational leadership.
As Managing Director of ResDev Solutions, I work closely with investors to evaluate mining assets globally, conduct due diligence, and develop strategies that create value. I have led the financial and operational analysis behind mining acquisitions across base metals, energy minerals, and precious metals, leveraging sophisticated risk and opportunity assessment.
Previously, as Vice President of Investments at Massey, L.C., I managed private equity investments in mining and mineral shipping, overseeing multi-million-dollar transactions that delivered substantial returns. I played a pivotal role in the turnaround of Fortia Minerals, generating significant post-tax profit while serving as Executive Chairman. I also supported Massey, L.C., exiting several investments at a profit.
At Resource Capital Funds, a leading mining private equity firm, I played a central role in portfolio management and deal structuring, covering early-stage projects to large-scale operations. I sourced and evaluated new investment opportunities, supported strategic business development, and collaborated with the executive suite to negotiate and advance transactions. I also designed and executed exit strategies, led turnaround initiatives to optimize underperforming assets, measured valuation impacts, developed term sheets to initiate negotiations, and conducted comprehensive risk assessments to ensure informed, value-driven investment decisions.
My early career included technical roles at Cerrejón, one of the world’s largest open-pit coal mines, focusing on mine planning and operational efficiency, and at Sumicol-Corona, where I applied Six Sigma methodologies to optimize production.
I hold an M.Sc. in Mining and Earth Systems Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a B.Sc. in Mining and Metallurgical Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where I graduated at the top of my class.
To complement my technical and financial expertise, I have completed executive programs in Venture Finance (UC Berkeley), Board Governance (University of Toronto), Business Process Design (MIT), Leadership & Communication (Dale Carnegie), and Accounting System Structure & Information Management (New York Institute of Finance).
My primary language today is English. As a native Colombian, I am also fluent in Spanish. Additionally, my work in Brazil during my time in private equity allowed me to develop proficiency in Portuguese.
